What is Boma?

History of BOMA

BOMA International was founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers. The association assumed its present name in 1968 as it broadened its reach to include Canada and other affiliates around the globe. BOMA is an international federation of more than 100 local associations and affiliated organizations. BOMA’s 16,500-plus members own or manage more than 9 billion square feet of commercial properties in North America and throughout the world. The mission of BOMA International is to enhance the human, intellectual and physical assets of the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, education, research, standards and information. Throughout BOMA International’s 100-year history, its goal has always focused on actively and responsibly representing and promoting the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development.

BOMA Michiana

The BOMA|Michiana chapter was started in December of 1984. The growth of multi-location facilities in our region spurred the need for a local chapter to serve the growing number of building owners, managers and the vendors that serve them. Through advocacy, education and facility tours our chapter provides best practices for the leaders in the commercial real estate industry within our region.

From our

Welcome to BOMA Michiana 2018!

I am honored to serve the members of BOMA Michiana as your President for 2018.  I look forward to a great year as we seek to make significant strides with renewed enthusiasm within the BOMA Michiana chapter.

Our focus for 2018 will be to provide a platform for membership growth and investment in our committees, launching a regional continuing education offering for professional development to our surrounding industry professionals and a commitment to engaging with you on industry issues and trends that directly impact the buildings you own and operate.  I believe these are the areas of greatest impact for individual member growth and where BOMA receives the greatest benefit from membership as we serve together, sharing ideas about how to make the organization stronger and collaborating our professional experiences to foster personal and professional growth.

Becoming a part of BOMA Michiana, you are more than a member.  You are a voice among a team of professionals from our region working together to support not only our members but our leaders and industry professionals.  We look forward to being a part of the investment into your future.

 Best Wishes,

 Rachel Smith, LEED® Green Associate™
